Son of Abbaa Gadaa of Tulama Oromo killed

The son of the Abbaa Gadaa (traditional governor) of the Tulama Oromo, one of the largest sub-groups, was killed by government forces on April 14 in West Arzi zone, the West Arsi Zone Communication Bureau announced.

Folle Gobana, the son of Gobana Hola, Abbaa Gadaa of the Tulama Oromo and secretary of the Oromo Gadaa Leaders’ Council, was killed in Gadab Hasasa, West Arsi Zone.

The statement released by the Zonal Communication Bureau indicates Folle Gobana was a member of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), previously active in areas around Maqi, East Shawa zone.

“Action was taken against him while he was attempting to harm civilians,” the statement adds.

In December 2022, government forces raided the Abbaa Gadaa’s house in Maqi and arrested his other son, Badhane Gobana.
